Hey guys for
this blog there is a Warning::: DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE A PETA MEMBER, just go
ahead and move to another web site.
Bruce and I are
in Oregon and decided to attend the County Fair. We went through all the
barns...chickens, goats, sheep, pigs, bunnies, and of course beef cattle.
Thank goodness I couldn't get anything home or there would have been new
critters at FairWinds!!
We watched
working Quarter Horses and cowboys:) herd cattle and rope them...figuring our
Rockies could do this...course they can do anything!!
Ate huge onion
rings and the BEST corn dog.
Ok, for the
Highlight of the fair!!! The SWINE show. And the first class was a
show. First, just let me say I picked the top two!! Yeah me! Now
there were 13 swine or pigs as I call them and they weighed 200-220 lbs.
So, 13 pigs with their handlers controlling them with taps from a show stick
takes awhile to judge (although I had already picked the top two remember).
Well, I guess this one pig thought it was time for the winner to be picked...So
she started trying to "take out" the competition".... Oh yeah
the fights were on!!! I mean what happened to pigs just wanting to
eat! Seriously this pig (we nicknamed her Pitbull) was after every pig
she could get to! Grown men with board panels had to put the panels and
themselves between them to break up the fights!! We had never seen pigs
shown before so this was quite an eye opener for us or at least me. WOW!! I
tried not to LOL but I did giggle ALOT. That pig was hilarious and
fearless. The class took so long some of the pigs were laying down, but
not Pitbull, oh no she was still going! I would like to add she got
Reserve in the class and was escorted out with one of the panel guys and her
handler:))
As we watched
the final class of swine we enjoyed some awesome RIBS! That was probably
in bad taste...Oh well, they were great, and that one piggie made the whole
fair experience more fun. No one was hurt and Pitbull only had a few
battle marks on her...just wondering if a tough pig makes for a tough Ham???
As for PETA,
really kinda wished they had shown up with their foolishness...Figuring between
Pitbull and the Cowboys they would have been "Run Out Of Town"
We were just this weekend discussing swine shows...how funny!
